What is Fireball?

The Fireball is not a number you have to pick - it is randomly selected after the draw and its sole purpose is to create more combinations that can lead to more wins.

To add this option simply select ‘Fireball’ on your payslip and you're good to go. A couple of examples of how Fireball works are shown further down the page, but here are some more important points to remember.

• Fireball is drawn from its own set of numbers from 0 to 9. It could be the same as one of the drawn numbers or different. It is a random selection.
• The Fireball can be used to replace any of the numbers that are drawn.
• Adding Fireball doubles the cost of your play.
• You can win on the base game, on Fireball, or even both.

Fireball Examples

There are various ways you can play in all the Pick games. Here is an example for Pick 3:

• You choose: 123, with a play type of Exact Order
• The numbers drawn are: 129, with a Fireball of 3

In this instance, you would not win a prize in the main game without adding Fireball. If you did include Fireball, you could just replace the 9 from the main draw with the Fireball of 3, and it would match your selections exactly. This would give you a prize of $200.

Here is an example of how Fireball could work in Pick 4:

• You pick: 2468, with a play type of Any Order
• The numbers drawn are: 8641, with a Fireball of 2

Again, you would not win a prize if you had not added the Fireball option. However, you can swap out the 1 from the drawn numbers and replace it with the Fireball of 2, to create a new combination of 8642. This matches your numbers in one of the 24 possible orders, giving you a prize of $64.

Pick 5 offers the biggest prizes of all the Pick games, and it is possible to add Fireball here too. Here is another example

• You pick: 12345 as an Exact Order play
• The numbers drawn are: 12345, with a Fireball of 5

In this instance, you match all the numbers exactly and win the jackpot of $50,000. However, if you switch out the 5 from the main draw and put in the Fireball of 5, you still have the same winning combination, so this would give you an additional $12,000.
