Cash 5 is Virginia’s only daily jackpot game that gives you the chance to win a top prize that starts at $200,000, or you can aim to instantly win cash prizes with the EZ Match option. You can play Cash 5 both in-store or online, so take a look at the steps below to get started.

To play, select five different numbers when you purchase a ticket. If your numbers match enough of the ones drawn, you’ll win a prize. The amount you win depends on how many numbers you match. If you have won you must claim your prize within 180 days of the draw date by visiting a Virginia-based lottery retailer.

With tickets starting at $1, here's a step-by-step guide on how to play Virginia Cash 5.

Select Your Numbers

Before playing Cash 5, you have to select five numbers from 1 to 45. You can either choose these yourself or use the Number Generator to do an ‘Easy Pick’ for you. Each ticket costs $1 to play.

Multi-Draws

You can purchase tickets for up to 91 consecutive drawings by selecting the Multi-Draw option ($1 per play). You can select the EZ Match option* for each Multi-Draw play but any EZ Match prize can only be claimed once.

The EZ Match Option

The EZ Match option can be added to your Cash 5 ticket and gives you the option to win prizes instantly. You select EZ Match for an additional $1 and receive five randomly generated numbers with associated prize values. These will be printed onto your Cash 5 tickets upon purchase. Match any of these five EZ Match numbers to any of your Cash 5 numbers and you instantly win the prize shown. You can win multiple times on one ticket.

How to Win the Jackpot

You win the jackpot if you match your five numbers with the five numbers drawn. Draws take place every day at 11:00 PM and you can check how you did using the Number Checker after the draw has taken place.

What to Do After the Draw?

You have 180 days from the draw date to claim your prize if you have won. Visit a local Virginia Lottery retailer and they will provide you with either the cash or a check / money order.
